Brandy - Stylist and Salon Educator;

Brandy came to Groove Jet Salon in 2005.  She is a self-proclaimed obsessive-compulsive perfectionist, who puts the "cute" in acute attention to detail. She believes that hair should be functional, while complimenting each individual guest. Brandy loves working with all textures of hair -- straight, curly, wavy, ethnic -- and is most known for creating straight as you like styles. Her coloring is all about beautiful natural creations: fresh, current and spicy. She's drawn to classic shapes and strong, clean lines, finding inspiration from all eras. And she firmly believes “If you don’t look at history, you have no future”, always celebrating the fundamentals of hairdressing. She also loves to give her guests the hair they dream of -- being a certified Hair Dreams Extensionist and certified in Bio Ionic’s Retex and Kerasmooth straightening systems.

Brandy is addicted to going to Bumble & bumble University in NYC and attends workshops bi-yearly to keep fine-tuning her techniques and developing her eye for detail. Recently she has become a Bumble & bumble Network Educator, as well as Bio Ionic Educator. She feels sharing information with others deepens her understanding of the information she is teaching.  Brandy really admires Sabrina Michals, an editorial stylist for Bumble.  Her eye is amazing for details and she amazes Brandy by how humble she is for having so much success.

Caitlin - Stylist

Caitlin graduated with honors from the Aveda institute NYC in 2005 and continued her education in the top salons in Manhattan.  She has been an educator with L’Oreal Professional.  She specializes in balayage and custom color.  Her favorite products are the Bumble and Bumble thickening line, styling crème and styling lotion.  She is inspired by NYC fashion and brings fresh ideas and a professional attitude from the Big Apple to downtown Wilmington.

Chelsea Esthetician, Make-up Artist and Waxing Specialist

Chelsea first fell in love with esthetics when her mom showed her the Aveda Institute in Charlotte (her hometown).  Once she toured the school, she fell in love and knew esthetics was her calling.  As an esthetician and make-up artist, Chelsea focuses on the latest beauty and fashion trends.  When Chelsea is not in the facial room she focuses her time doing make-up for various local publications and fashion shows.

Chelsea’s biggest inspiration is her family and her most prized possession is sapphire ring (her birthstone) that her mom and dad gave her and cowboy boots from Texas (mom’s homeland).  Chelsea can’t live without Dermologica Pre-cleanse and Barrier Repair Moisture – both are great for dry skin in the winter.

Christie - Front Desk Coordinator

Erica - Stylist

Ranging from classic bobs, bright blondes, curly shapes, sassy reds, mysterious brunettes or texture looks, Erica Adams can create something that fits your lifestyle.  Whether you are low maintenance or high maintenance, Erica can use her expertise not only to custom fit your look but she can also send you home with the tools and knowledge you need to upkeep your look (an emphasis here at Groove Jet). She really finds interest in curly texture (having it herself she understand the hesitation curly guests have and the trouble of styling).  And while long hair scares a lot of hairdressers, for Erica long hair merely poses another interesting challenge. Hairdressing is a key component sometimes over looked in our industry and long hair and long layers are okay...haha.   Erica knows sexy and can give you the big sexy hair without the out dated feel, from effortless beach waves to glossy sleek and straight....bring on the hair. A large portion of Erica’s clientele are gentleman and  she understands what issues male guests come across , including the struggle with using products to give their hair effortless texture, and she will offer suggestions to a look change or head shape. 
Being well rounded as a stylist to Erica means not only talking the talk but living the lifestyle.

As an educator, Erica is highly influenced by up to date trends and fashion from her constant traveling and education, vigorously researching everything from hair, art or architecture and finding inspiration on a regular basis.  With over 5 years of experience, she has time to focus on honing her craft and perfecting her skills yet continuing to invest in her own education.

When not working behind the chair, Erica stays busy with photo shoots, film, runway and teaching. Thanks to the beautiful weather in Wilmington and the relationships she's created with photographers bridal work plays a huge roll in her career.

Calling downtown Wilmington her home since the beginning of her career she truly embodies the spirit of downtown and the downtown clientele.

Kimmer - Massage Therapist

Kimmer was inspired to be a massage therapist to help a special needs family member and an injured dog.  Her family is her inspiration and she is crazy about cars and dogs.  She is very proud that she returned to college after 28 years and received her degree.

Leslie - Nail Technician

Leslie’s has been doing nails since she was a little girl, she was taught by her Grandmother.  Leslie’s most prized possessions are her nail case and her daughter’s wedding pictures.  Her favorite OPI nail colors are “Strawberry Margarita” and “Expresso Your Style”.  She loves to help women be their best.  Leslie is a downtown Wilmington gal through and through – lives and works downtown.  In her spare time, Leslie enjoys watching golf and bike riding.

Luis - Stylist, Nail Technician, Waxing Specialist

Luis has always loved all aspects of the salon environment.  He believes that the way you wear your hair is a direct correlation of your unique personality and he works closely with every guest to achieve the look that embraces your personality and lifestyle.  From the classics to the latest trends, each guest will leave with a personalized look that they can truly call their own.  Being from a Latino background (fluent in Spanish), he understands cultural history and ethnic textures and believes in maintaining the integrity of your hair while keeping in mind the manageability of your hair texture. His favorite product is Bumble & bumble Sumotech, thickening spray. Luis loves to create hair styles for photo shoots and his hair heroine is none other than Tabitha.  While Luis specializes in hair, he is also a master of nails and waxing.

Mandy - General Manager

Mandy began her career as a salon receptionist eight years ago and worked her way up to salon manager. She became the General Manager of Groove Jet Salon in 2011. While Mandy has a business background, she loves the people aspect of the salon, especially creating a memorable experience for all our guests. She is constantly thinking of new ways to bring guests into the salon and making them feel like a million dollars.  She also enjoys the team environment shared with the entire staff of Groove Jet Salon. In her spare time, Mandy enjoys teaching and practicing yoga, a variety of art projects, and spending time with her two dogs Marley and Oliver.

Mary Beth - Stylist and Nail Technician

Growing up, Mary Beth did hair and nails for all her friends for special events.  Right out of high school, Mary Beth went to UNCG to be a music teacher, studying voice and piano.  While at UNCG, she was the go to hair stylist for her friends.  After 1 year at UNCG, she followed her passion of cosmetology and switched to Cape Fear Community College where she graduated with an associate’s degree in Cosmetology (her childhood BFF always predicted she would be a stylist). Her great education, and over 7 years of experience as a hairstylist and a nail technician, has equipped her with the skills to keep her guests looking fresh and fabulous!
In order to stay current with the ever-changing fashion trends, Mary Beth participates in continuing education focused on learning the newest cut and color techniques as well as introducing the hottest product and supply lines. These private classes are taught by professionals from pre-eminent hair lines such as Bumble & bumble. Her education has been augmented by her spa and salon working experience. Having spent time as a hair stylist at a high-end hair salon chain and as a nail technician at an award-winning spa, Mary Beth has the polish and professionalism her guests deserve. No matter what style your heart desires, Mary Beth is well-equipped to turn your dream look into a reality!
Guest consultation is most important for providing a guest with his or her perfect look. Mary Beth understands how frustrating it is to tell a stylist exactly what you want yet somehow wind up with the complete opposite style. For this reason, Mary Beth always strives to fully grasp her guest’s vision so that she can provide the perfect style. Mary Beth’s biggest inspiration and most essential goal is for her guests to leave her chair 100% satisfied!
Mary Beth has curly hair and was so excited when she found a product that works on all curly hair types.  Bumble & bumble Curl Consious Holding Foam is that product she can’t live without.
Mary Beth began her career with Groove Jet Salon on-call for large wedding parties.  She found the staff so nice and helpful, and the atmosphere so fun and upbeat, she decided to become part of the amazing team at Groove Jet Salon, and we are glad she is part of our team.

Nikki - Stylist

As a child, Nikki began her styling career on her Barbie’s and has been styling hair since.  Being a downtown girl, Nikki walked into Groove Jet Salon in 2005 and knew we were the salon for her and, although she left for a very brief period, when she came back she proved that you can come back home (welcome home Nikki).  From classic styles to funky, Nikki customizes each haircut and color to accommodate your lifestyle.  She specializes in hair color, male haircuts and hair extensions.  She is a certified HairDreams hair extensions expert.   She is inspired by beautiful, colorful things like flowers and plants, and swears she can’t live without Bumble & bumble Surf Spray or Spray de Mode! 
Her most prized possession is her “puppy-cat” Leroy.  In her spare time, Nikki loves cooking, playing in her garden (she grows her own herbs) and listening to music.
